little planties

tomato plant container gardening

tomato plant container gardening

my sweet little tomato plants have little greenies on them! i'm so excited to grow my own tomatoes. it's the first time i've ever tried (i have several family members that usually have gardens) and i couldn't be happier!

i know as soon as they're ready to be picked i'll devour them all in one sitting, but they'll be my own. i have a little basil plant, too, but i haven't been cooking much so it's a little overgrown. oops. luckily tomatoes are my favorite food, so they won't go to waste!

road trip

last sunday i rode with my dad, grandparents, and group of truckers up to burgettstown, pennsylvania to pick up some trailers my dad had bought. i had originally not planned to go, but at the last second i decided to. so at 4am i walked out of my house in pajamas and climbed in the truck and off we went.

somehow i got with the group of four truckers, all of whom i knew, but it probably looked like i'd been kidnapped when we stopped at a service plaza off the pike. dad and my grandparents left an hour later than us, but somehow managed to get within nine miles of us three-fourths of the way there. now you know where i get my speeding from. but i have an uncanny ability to make superior time when travelling. :)

i started my day off right, with a vanilla coke and a gas station breakfast croissant. rarely do i drink soda, but vanilla coke? who can resist?
breakfast

certainly not me. we continued on our way, and we saw such a pretty hot air balloon!

the sun was just coming up when we spotted it. we went through the tunnel next. the picture turned out fairly well this time, normally the tunnel's filled with smoke from all the trucks.

i love the sights on road trips, and we always go through great towns. i love the different shapes of bridges! unfortunately i never followed through on that whole architecture thing.

after what seemed like forever and a few cramped naps, we made it to the auction yard. i sat in dad's truck with my grandma while they loaded them.

and believe it or not, totally legal. yup. we were right at the legal height limit. dad's a pro at toeing the line. i was a little worried a few times following one of them behind a bridge, but luckily we had no accidents. :) such is the life of a trucker's daughter.

great finds

i drove up to the store today to grab a bottle of water and to get out of the house for a bit and i stopped at a small community yard sale that's up the street. it's normally way busier on saturdays, but i was busy yesterday so i figured i'd stop and have a look today.

i wasn't expecting much but i found a few things.

i am so excited about this canister!

i think it's adorable. i have no idea what i'm going to put in it, but it was only a dollar fifty, and i've been looking for a mushroom canister for ages that i wouldn't have to pay a fortune for.

and these cute little owls!
the one on the right is brass, but i'm not exactly sure what the one on the left is.

they'll go perfectly on my little mini shelf of mini owls. which had yet to be put up, but it will soon, my friends. once i paint the living room. which may be never.

what all have you found lately?

early morning around my house

my house is not normal. my neighborhood is not normal. i woke up early this morning (although someone slept in) and i was piddling around the house doing some things, when i hear a rooster crow. no big deal, my neighbor down the street i live across from has one. never have i seen this rooster, only heard it at ungodly hours.
until today.

the crowing seemed a bit closer than usual, and it was then that i realized the rooster was on my side of the road. yes. that damned rooster trekked all the way across the road to crow ten feet from my house.

so instantly i cursed, put my shoes on, and grabbed a broom. now i don't know exactly what i had planned, whether it was to murder said rooster, shoo it back across the road, or bat it across the road like a softball. but i traipsed out there in my pajamas, and keeping my distance, tried to shoo it.

it just ran away.

so i did what any sensible blogger would do.
i got my camera.

and while he is an annoying rooster, he's actually very pretty. and if this rooster continues to come back i'm naming him oscar and he will become my rooster.
