the last two weeks of my life have been amazing. it all started on the 20th with a delicious lunch of all-we-could-eat seafood! my stepdad's mom's birthday is fairly close to mine and he always takes my mom, her, and their family out for seafood (and i get to tag along, thanks!).
i ate so much, but it was so good.
THEN Administrative Professionals' Day came around on the 24th and i was surprised with flowers, cards, and giftcards from my office. i am so grateful for my job and it was so unexpected but the gesture really warmed my heart. i guess they like me after all, haha.
i'm so behind on my blogging that i forgot to give a HUGE shoutout to my amazing grandpa on April 25th for his 81ST BIRTHDAY! happy birthday, gaga, and many more! my grandpa is the one of the best people i know. i get my animal loving from him.
now before i go on about my amazing birthday, i want to talk about a not-so-great part of the last two weeks. on the evening of the 26th i was cooking dinner at my pop's for the menfolk, and my pop's girlfriend came in sounding a bit flustered. (now keep in mind we've got about nine million animals running around so she could've easily had to fight through them to get to the door. kind of like hey arnold.) i didn't pay any attention until she came in the kitchen and told me they were taking my grandma to the emergency room. in an ambulance.
now to clarify, my grandparents are my two most favorite people in this entire world. i was really close to them growing up since we lived next door, and i'm still really close them today.
i immediately turned the stove off, covered the pan, grabbed my coat and purse and ran next door. when i get next door i learn that my grandma (whom i call nannie) had hip pain that hurt so badly she couldn't sit up to go to the ER. she'd said something to me about the hip pain earlier in the week, but she's a tough old lady and had made it seem minor. the ambulance came and i rode with them to the hospital (i'm the one they put in the room to be "assertive"). we got no answers, they gave her pain pills and she went home.
and i'm going to pause on that story for a bit since it gets interrupted. BUT i assure everyone nannie was fine.
AND THEN MY BIRTHDAY ARRIVES!
AND THERE'S MORE!
i got home sunday evening and went to see nannie; she was doing better but still had pain when she sat up at all. i was really starting to get frustrated that no one seemed to want to do anything to help her, but what can i do? i can't exactly go all john q on people, but i'll get rowdy in a hospital room in a hot second when it comes to my grandparents! i spent some time there, went to bed, and was woken up at 5:30am monday to another call to get an ambulance. this time my grandmother was in so much pain she was at the point of yelling out. it broke my heart, but my crisis brain kicked in and i tried to manage things as well as i could. i drove down to the hospital separately since i had to work, and we FINALLY got some answers. she has sciatica, which has obviously gotten pretty bad.
again, more pain pills until she could get to a doctor, but she's doing pretty well now and has an MRI later this week.
AND THERE'S MORE!
but i'm tired and i'll post about my amazing Bob Seger concert trip tomorrow.
yeah, you read right.
